We've added a new item type for proposals! You now have 'Parts', 'Labor' and 'Fees'.
'Fee' items types can be used to charge for things like 'Shipping', 'Tariffs', 'Permitting', 'Travel Charges', 'Fuel' etc. Basically anything that isn't parts or labor.
Up till now you've probably been building 'Custom Items' but that isn't ideal because you don't want these types of items to be grouped into the 'Parts' total at the end of the proposal.
We've activated this new feature for all voters, you will see the new category in your catalog. We've also built you a few common sample items. Notice that the 'Shipping' fee is priced dynamically, so it's a % of all parts on the proposal.
Try it out and let us know what you think!

It would be great to be able to add custom fees to a proposal. For example, it would be nice to be able to at a parts and materials fee to the proposal that takes a custom specified percentage, that we designate, of the product in the proposal. So like 8% of product would show as a line item in the financial summary, but we could designate the name of the fee and the percentage of either product or labor. And to be able to add as many of these as we like.

Our company also provides alarm monitoring services and it need to paid immediately during activation, I want to be able to add monitoring package and activation fee separate line in financial summary as it's not a part of the labor or materials. Same for maintenance packages or service calls need to be shown in summary not everything labor and parts.

We're looking at creating a new line 'Item Type' called 'Fees', which is an addition to the current 'Parts' and 'Labor'.
This will allow you to create any custom item you want and assign the new item type. You can then create a custom item for 'Shipping', or any other fees that are not parts or labor, such as 'Permits' or credit card 'Convenience Fees'.
With this approach it's more universal, it will leverage the existing Taxable/Tax Exempt functionality and will appear in the financial summary as a new line alongside Parts and Labor.

Kirk Chisholm did this happen? Just curious if I missed something

Scott Capunay Yes, it's in beta. I just turned it on for your account. You'll see a new category in your catalog now called 'Fees'. You can create a shipping item and add it to the proposal.

It could be nice to have it function with the same options as 'Labor' and just be able to manipulate if it shows line item, rate, qty, total, etc.
Also, I don't charge sales tax on shipping, so there needs to be a way to manipulate that feature since some states may charge sales tax on it.

I would like an editable Shipping & Handling line in the Financial Summary box. I'd like it to be based off a percentage of the proposal total or editable where I can make it any amount I want.
