Proposal 'System' and 'Phase' views

We would like to be able to add locations and systems, where each location will automatically generate its systems, currently the only way to do this is to create each system of each location as a new area. eg Room1:Audio, Room1:Video etc. This could add up to hundreds of "areas" that need to be entered individually.

we have to duplicate the proposal and then zero out all but the roughin to send the roughin to QB for ordering and billing. So yes want to be able to break out then manage by phase

I look at Portal every few years and leave disappointed that it's not a feasible product for us yet due to the lack of the ability to break down proposals by system and area. This isn't just some feature we would like to have, it's literally crucial to overcoming budget objections.
When people are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars and cannot see any segregation of system costs, it's completely unclear to them how much they are spending on what. Psychologically people are far more like to find a proposal acceptable, or spend more, if they see can see some type of system categorization. For instance:
- Whole House Audio/Video
- Theater
- Climate Control
- Lighting Control
- Lighting Fixtures
- Motorized Shades
- Network System
This also helps them to mentally stop thinking of this as "the A/V budget".
Take a look at any builder proposal. They are never by room, they are by system such as "Flooring", because that's how people think about allocating budgets. If there is additional breakdown it still always starts with the "system", not the room.
D-Tools, Jetbuilt and others all offer this functionality. Hopefully one of these decades Portal will decide to add it. If anyone has any good workarounds I am all ears.

David Haddad I totally agree. It looks like this feature was marked as Under Review four years ago with no updates since then so it is unlikely that this will materialize any time soon. Take a look at specifi.io as they appear to have this feature dialed-in as well as many others that we have been waiting for such as Change Orders, Kanban, Project Phases, and Templates. They also have a Floor Plan Editor, Cable Schedules, and Network Maps!
